Description:
A medium-sized green or dark green leaf-warbler with long supercilia. Variable leaf warbler with uniform crown, fine wing-bars, and distinctive call. In fresh plumage has olive-green upperparts, a single white wing-bar, yellowish-white supercilium, and whitish underparts with faint yellowish suffusion. Darker bill.
Distribution:
Common resident and altitudinal migrant in the western half of Gilgit-Baltistan, except for Baltistan. Breeds at up to 4200m in lowland and montane mixed birch and conifer forests with rich undergrowth; in winter also woodland, groves and gardens.
Behavior:
Actively forages at all levels, from low bushes to tree canopy. Takes food items from foliage, also hovers and catches insects in flight, as well as on ground. Foraging movements considered to be faster or more mobile than those of chiffchaffs. Food mostly small invertebrates, also crustaceans and molluscs; fruits and some seeds also taken.
